Call Center Helps Doctors “Deliver” Care to Patients

Sandy Wynia, RN Grand Rapids Women's Health

Sandy Wynia, RN, Grand Rapids Women’s Health, relies on Cunningham Communications call center operators to connect women in labor to their doctors after hours.

Sandy Wynia, RN, had just started her new job as clinical director when three women’s health groups merged to become Grand Rapids Women’s Health and moved into the new Women’s Health Center.

The practice is West Michigan’s largest independent OB/GYN group.

Among the many decisions to be made, who would provide after-hours call center telephone coverage turned out to be the easiest, Sandy said.

“One of the groups had used the Cunningham Communications call center for years, and recommended we continue using them.”

Eight years later, after-hours telephone coverage for 14 physicians is one less thing to worry about for Sandy, a nurse with nearly four decades of experience.

Most of the calls to Grand Rapids Women’s Health are for busy obstetricians from pregnant women. It is not a time to make the caller push buttons on the phone prompted by a computerized voice. Women in labor want to talk with a real live person.

Our well-trained call center operators have to be a calming voice at the other end of the phone. Sandy said she and her doctors appreciate that our operators “get it right.”

“They always relay the right message to the right doctor at the right time.”

Sandy Wynia appreciates our personalized service as a local company. She knows our local call center operators will correctly pronounce doctor names, and street names.

She knows that we understand the urgency of a woman in labor, and can help Grand Rapids Women’s Health “deliver” the best quality care to their patients.
